Alzheimer Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County
An estimated 500,000 Canadians have Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia. Over 70,000 of them are under 65 years of age, and approximately 50,000 are under the age of 60. Within a generation, the number of Canadians with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia will more than double, ranging between 1 and 1.3 million people. The Alzheimer Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County exists to alleviate the personal and social consequences of the 12,000 in this region with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and to promote research.
